Spread the love

I read about 3 books a month. Give or take. And I get it done with 4 kids, one with special needs, all while running a small business from home.

Why do I do this you ask? Because it is extremely important to me to educate myself and set a good example for my kids.

And you can do it too!

Im going to tell you my exact strategy.

BUT FIRST, what I read in August 2020

(p.s. I’m not real big into fiction or novels, I read them, but not all the time. I prefer business, self-development, and parenting books during this “chapter” of my life)

Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

This book is probably the very best business book for moms that I have read thus far. If you are an entrepreneur, influencer or you run a small business (and you are maybe even also a mom) just pick up a copy of this book you’ll be glad you did and thank me later.

Rachel Hollis goes into her journey building a multimillion-dollar media company and how she got there. She tells you exactly what she did and what you can do to get your butt to the top too.

She gives you that good ol’ tough love kick in the pants get your act together spit fire pump it up speech we didn’t know we needed!

You’ll learn:

  • How to let go of excuses
  • New Behaviors to Adopt
  • New skills to Acquire
  • Basically, how to do you, and stop apologizing for it

Redirecting Childrens Behavior by Kathryn Kvols

My top favorite parenting book. Kathryn teaches you the three different parenting style and how to discipline to get the results you want without yelling or severe punishment.

She teaches you what to do when you children misbehave so that they don’t do it again. She also teaches you about sibling fights and how to get them under control.

Kathryns book is my parenting survival manual.

You’ll Learn:

  • 3 parenting styles
  • discipline
  • siblings
  • family communication
  • Taking care of yourself first

So now that you know about all the books I “read” this month, you might be wondering, how the HECK DOES SHE HAVE TIME TO READ 3 LONG BOOKS A MONTH LIKE THAT?????

Heee Heee, I don’t read them!

I don’t really have a lot of time to read.

And when I do, I am exhausted and fall asleep within just a few minutes. I really love reading and learning new things, so I had to find a way to get my learn on.

My easy, cheap and fast secret:

Chirp.

Chirp is how I do it!

I read one hard copy, and listen to 2-3 each month. I still love having a good ol block of pages of BOOK in my hands while I read. But I simply just don’t have the time to read every book I want to in my arsenal.

So I cheat the system.

Even though I have an Amazon Prime membership, I do NOT like that I have to PAY for a monthly subscription to Audible. That is JUST CRAP. I refuse to pay for the membership and also pay for the books. Ya, they give you a book or 2 free, but that doesn’t suffice me.

Thats why I use a FREE audio book service, called CHIRP. Ya’ll, it is 100% free. The app is 100% free. They have all the books Amazon has.

But here is the kicker, THEIR BOOKS ARE CHEAPER, like 2 or 3 dollars. The same books!

I will “read” my audio books while I’m driving, doing laundry, dishes, working out, working in my studio, or any task that requires mindless work. I pop my air pods in and turn the book on. This also keeps me from getting distracted down the social media rabbit hole and keeps me doing focused work. I get more accomplished while listening to my books.

Here are some examples of the daily deals books. This is just a small hand full. And once you buy the book, you get to keep it forever in your chirp app! They give you the opportunity to get good prices on books you want to read for one day only at steal.

Chirp will email you daily deals that they pick every single day to mark down to just a couple of bucks. If you find one you like, you purchase the book and it gets downloaded onto your app.

This just takes the cake, ya’ll. I need to get my books in, and Chirp makes it so easy and cheap to find the books I want to consume each month.

What is funny, you can even listen to your Chirp books on your Amazon echo dots or Alexa. They also have a driving feature that allows you to listen and drive safely.

AND IT GETS BETTER, if you sign up for Chirp using MY link, you’ll get ANOTHER 20% off on the first book you buy!!

Ya’ll, come on, it just doesn’t get any better than that when it comes to audio books.

So sign up for Chirp right now, its FREE FREE FREE. Use my link tho so you get the discount.

All you do is click my link, download the app and create your free account. Pick out your first books, you will get 20% off on TOP of your already daily deal. And your new books will show up in your app, ready to listen.

Stock up on some books, oh and don’t forget, there are also some free books in there! And have them ready to listen to for when:

  • You are folding laundry
  • Doing dishes
  • Driving
  • Exercising
